A Goal Statement describes the desired outcomes to be accomplished by an individual within a specific time period. The outcomes set standards for quality, quantity, timeliness, cost, or percentage of change desired.
Set at least one goal per Key Responsibility Area with a limit of three to five goal statements per KRA.
Goals are the middle level of role clarity, and describes the ongoing functions in your role, as well as the desired outcomes to be accomplished within a specific time period.
Example 1
Good: Score an average rating of 8.9 on a customer service questionnaire (10 questions) given to 400 customers twice in a 12-month period.
Bad: Improve our customer service next year.
Example 2
Good: Achieve a 3% sales increase over last year’s total sales during this fiscal year.
Bad: To increase sales volumes in six months.
Example 3
Good: Train 90% of associates to level 3 competence on credit application process by second quarter.
Bad: Our credit application process.
