Listening Fundamental #1—
Attending to Nonverbal Behaviors
Face-to-Face Communication—What is Conveyed through
Words spoken______% Tone of voice_____% Body language_____%
When you listen non verbally, you send silent, but powerful, messages to the speaker about your interest in him or her and what he or she is saying. Your nonverbal behaviors tell the speaker to keep talking, to be cautious, or to stop talking.
The primary reasons for paying attention to nonverbal behaviors are to:
- Be sensitive to what your nonverbal behaviors are saying
- Become aware of the clues others provide us, nonverbally, about their frame of mind.
- Show interest
Virtual Conversations
